CSD News Update: February 1, 2013 (Information, Connection and Referral within Our Dowsing Community)
Greetings to all on the Canadian Society of Dowsers’ e-mail information list! Our Board has been working hard to prepare educational events in 2013 that will benefit everyone, from beginning dowsers to seasoned masters.
Plans for our traditional Annual Convention are in process: now is the time to reserve the weekend of May 24-26, Friday through Sunday, on your calendar. The location will be Belleville. It’s much more fun to come with a carload than just by yourself. Who might come with you to explore the amazing possibilities that dowsing offers us all? Now is the time to start thinking about joining us. As always, the Board
Markham Event: Saturday, March 23, 2013 "Reaching for the 7th Dimension"
Meantime, however, you’ll have an opportunity to participate in a one-day event on Saturday, March 23 in Markham, ON. A choice of three 3-hour workshops is available in the morning, starting at 9:30 am. In the afternoon, there will be three choices of speakers in each of two consecutive sessions. After supper, a special guest keynote speaker will present at 7 pm. Throughout the day, CSD members who sell dowsing supplies and offer private consultations will be available in a marketplace area. The attachments to this update will give you more details.
If you are able to participate for more than one part of the day, you will get the best value for your investment. Plan to attend for as much time as possible to benefit from the wisdom and experience of our presenters. Don’t forget that bringing others with you shares transportation costs as well as offering you an enjoyable chance to develop friendships and swap dowsing information en route.
Information about all the leaders and speakers for the Markham events is not yet complete, but updates will be posted regularly on our website – www.canadiandowsers.org. We will send you a follow-up e-mail as soon as all details are in place.
(*Click Here to go directly to the Website for the Markham Event.)
A Special Note about Costs
You will notice that it is much more economical to be a CSD member than a non-member. Increased CSD membership will allow us to expand the services that we offer, so we can interest more people in using their intuitive skills, and provide them with help in developing them through dowsing.
We’d love to have you try out CSD membership and save money in the process!

Janet Heartson - Neuro-Linguistic Programming
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder and has since been refined by many practitioners. NLP can rapidly shift limited or stuck thinking. We only have our perceptions of reality. Perceptions that are given meaning and evaluated as important, unimportant, good, bad, dangerous, safe, etc., based on our subjective judgments and experiences. Simply put, we bring the past with us wherever we go. A simple example might be, if we had a traumatic experience, we might continue to see danger in places where there is none. (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome) The automatic thoughts that get programmed into our brains are designed to protect us, but they can trap us too. NLP can be used to help people see that we have many choices in every situation. We are not stuck with the ones that were programmed into our brains in the past.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Well driller Randy Gebke usually uses a geology database and other high-tech tools to figure out where to sink new water wells for clients. But if asked, he'll grab two wires, walk across the property, waiting for the wires to cross to find a place to drill.
Gebke is water witching, using an ancient method with a greater connection to superstition than science.
Thousands of wells have gone dry this summer in the worst drought the nation has experienced in decades. Some homeowners are spending as much as $30,000 to have new ones drilled, and Gebke said most potential customers in his area expect water witching to be part the deal.
"Over 50 percent of the time in that conversation, they ask do we have a witcher on the crew," he said. "And my response is, `We have a witcher on every crew.'"
Sacred Space Handbook by Sig Lonegren is a massively revised report that Sig did for the ASD and for NEARA (the New England Antiquities Research Society) in mid-eighties.
It was a result of dowsers and others gathering information at over forty of the underground stone chambers that are found throughout New England and the Hudson River Valley, and was initially published by Paul Sevigny and ASD Book and Supply under the title Earth Mysteries Handbook: Holistic Non-Intrusive Data Gathering Techniques.
Sacred Space Handbook is an e/iBook that will help you gather information in sacred spaces including archaeoastronomy, sacred geometry, the Earth energies and other data. This will prepare you for the real work: experiencing the Spiritual Realms directly for yourself.

The following is an excerpt from a post written by our new friend Myrna who occupied the vendor table next to us at the Northeast Organic Farming Association's Summer Conference.
I was happy to see members of the Woodstock generation exchanging ideas and expertise with young members of the “Kalestock” generation at the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) annualsummer conference on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus last weekend.
...
NOFA also attracts a wide range of herbalists, healers, and homesteaders. The American Society of Dowsers booth (okay, so there’s an organization for everybody), which was right next to my Good Egg Marketing table, was mobbed all weekend. Their website defines dowsing as “the ancient practice of using simple tools to interpret the answers to questions you ask,” but most of us associate it with divining for water. After hearing dowsers explain how it works dozens of times over the course of the weekend, I’m still a skeptic, but their staff and volunteers were awfully nice.
I would like to announce my NEW Webinar Series on Dowsing/Divining. This series will be in two parts and will have a great deal of information for both the Beginner and the Expert Dowser. Each participant in the webinar course will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each series.
The first set will start Monday August 20st. The second set will be in October and will consist of an additional 4 Webinars.
This 7 part webinar series will start with the basics and build to the last Webinars in October which will conclude with Spiritual Dowsing. This Series will be a total of 7 one hour webinars, 3 on Tuesdays in August and September and 4 on Thursdays in October.
My webinars are not just going to be me behind my webcam lecturing like so many webinars out there. These will be professional produced by Dancing Hawks Productions and will include not only the lecture but they will be very dynamic with both Live Demonstrations and also Pre-Recorded Demonstrations of actual Dowsing. This will allow the Webinars to actually show you how Dowsing Works in the different areas of Dowsing. They should not only be very educational but also entertaining.
Also with the Live Webinars and the Recorded sessions there will be handouts and dowsing charts that will be able to be downloaded for your use. When you purchase the Webinar or the recording you will receive the link to the webinar and recording as well as a link to the handouts and charts.
The subject matter of the Webinars is as follows:
August 20 Monday 8:00PM “The Art and Science of Dowsing”
August 27 Monday 8:00 PM “How to Dowse and Get Answers”
September 10 Monday8:00 PM “Water Dowsing”
October 4 Thursday 8:00 PM “ Map and Chart Dowsing”
October 11 Thursday 8:00 PM “Dowsing Your Health”

SANTA CRUZ -- The 29th annual West Coast Dowsing Conference settled into UC Santa Cruz on Friday and will remain through Tuesday, displaying myriad ways people have found to expand and apply an ancient divining technique perhaps best known as a way to discover groundwater.
Some at the conference portrayed dowsing as a way to discover health and contentment.
The American Society of Dowsers conference included a basic Dowsing School and a plethora of workshop topics -- more than 60 -- from earth acupuncture to dowsing in modern medicine to shamanic feng shui to alchemy to psychic protection.
The West Coast conference is held in Santa Cruz every other year, alternating with Flagstaff, Ariz., organizers said.
Sunday, Richard Tippett of Ertech Construction Management in Watsonville taught a workshop on using dowsing tools to improve business.
"There are a lot of practical uses for this stuff," he said. "It's been around for about 6,000 years. The joke is that Moses was a dowser."
Jody Healy of Soquel, who helped organize Sunday night's Fun Night, said she got involved with the conference when she visited with a friend.
Healy called dowsing an externalization of intuition, and said she uses it for things like choosing a doctor.
"It's a great conference; everyone learns a lot and has a great time," she said.
Robert Gandrup of Aromas taught a workshop about using numerology to help predict the post-2012 world.
Gandrup said his father and grandfather were traditional dowsers, scouting out well locations, but that he didn't realize all the applications until he began associating with other dowsers in the 1980s.
Now a business consultant, he said he likes to think of dowsing as "intuition on command."
It is a way to communicate with the subconscious, and can be used for everything from simple questions, like picking a meal at a restaurant, to much larger inquiries, he said.
He showed a dousing instrument, a kind of metal medallion on a string, that will gravitate toward an answer written on a piece of paper, for instance. Or a dish listed on a menu.
"It really can change your life," Gandrup said. "Anyone can do it and it can help anyone."
The conference included vendors selling books, tapes, labyrinths, herbs and other products.
Adhi Two Owls of Vermont was selling rattles and other items she created that are used by shamans.
Two Owls earned an art degree at the Kansas City Art Institute and began studying shamanic healing, particularly those using rattles, after beginning to focus her artwork on sacred objects.
She said shaman is a Mongolian word for someone who communicates with spirits, with use of an instrument that creates a trance-like state that allows them to travel through other dimensions. Often, it is used for community healing, she said.
Two Owls and others at the conference acknowledged that some dismiss their beliefs as hocus pocus.
"People always want to challenge you," she said. "Sometimes I rise to the occasion and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I think it's not my fight."
Alan Handelsman of Scottsdale, Ariz., was selling custom resonance tuners used to harmonize energy fields.
Handelsman began doing hypnotherapy in 2000, after finding cures for his stage fright and depression he suffered from as a professional musician, he said.
He said he first saw the tuner in action in 1978, when his flute teacher, Harold Bennett of New York, used it to harmonize instruments in a practice Bennett called homogenization.
"Some thought it was nuts and some swore by it," he said. "But mystery follows us all the time. I'm skeptical of people who think they can explain everything.
"And this helped me get straightened out, so I use what I've learned to help others."
Elizabeth Weedn of Houston said she has come to three annual conferences and Saturday taught a workshop that featured bending spoons and viewing auras. She said the Santa Cruz Mountains provide the perfect setting for the conference.
"I love it; it's just magical," Weedn said.

Please bring a Pot Luck dish to share, serving utensils and some dowsing stories. Feel free to invite a friend!
This will be an interactive presentation and we urge you to bring a folding snack table on which you will work.
Our speaker for this meeting will be:
The Energetic Light of the Universe is all around us. This light is made up of different colors that are all vibrating at different speeds and our bodies are constantly absorbing this energy. When our thoughts come into contact with these vibrations, our moods and feelings can change.
What if we could learn to improve our own or someone else's well-being by simply looking at a collection of colors they have placed on a piece of paper? Every color and its relationship with the other colors on your paper means something very specific. Now through years of research, Robin Wimbiscus has discovered that this painted piece of paper can be used as a navigational tool to change negative thought patterns, some so deeply rooted that you may not even know that they are there; keeping you stuck, resonating with false or incomplete beliefs.
For the past ten years, Robin has had the privilege of being the visual arts teacher and art director for two therapeutic boarding schools in Vermont. She has worked with many amazing therapists, educators, parents and children all of whomhave contributed and participated in the development of this unique therapeutic approach.
Intuitive Art Journaling is a method of processing life through art. Using watercolors, collage and other readily available art supplies, we will begin to learn to:
Ø Reduce stress Ø Quiet your mind Ø Understand and shift emotions Ø Change negative thought patterns
Ø Unlock questions and discover answers Ø Learn how and why it's important to be present
Ø Start to understand the past Ø Get comfortable trusting your intuition Ø Understand how to process thoughts
Ø Understand illness and disabilities Ø Process life traumas
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Ancient Mysteries...Dowsing...Pathways to the Future is shaping up into a profound, philosophical, fun, technical, and active convention.. The 2012 ASD Convention Committee has so much to tell you that we hardly know where to start. So let's start with the beginning.
Pre-convention, June 6th and 7th, as well as Post-convention, June 11th, will be one of our most exciting convention workshop periods ever. In addition to our well known and unique Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Dowsing Schools, look for the announcement highlighting a group of very different and dynamic workshops. These are not just long lectures; they are being designed to be actual workshops.
Make a note that we have made a change in Spa Corner. At your suggestions, we have renamed the area the "Wellness Corner" to reflect more closely what our practitioners do.
For newcomers, the Corner is a constellation of individuals who practice all types of modalities to assist you in your life's journey. They cover all levels--body, mind & spirit. Every year we offer a different array of services. We are keeping the client fees and donation portion to ASD the same as previous years. Any practitioner interested in joining and networking with others can complete the Practitioner's Application that is on the ASD website and you will be contacted with all the details.
We expect to offer different schools of meditation throughout the convention in various formats so watch for information in future announcements and in the program when any type of meditation is part of a lecture. You will see many of our regular vendors and several new ones---some with cutting-edge products. The ASD Bookstore will move to convention for the entire week so be prepared to shop, think, compare, decide, and shop some more.
Discussion groups are making their way into the schedule. Any suggestions on topics? Email asd2012cc@gmail.com or call the ASD office at 802/684-3417 with your ideas.
Core convention opens Thursday evening, June 7th, and this year be prepared for a very unconventional opening program. June 8th, 9th, and 10th will be filled with over 60 lectures, mini-workshops, very early morning activities, and late into the evening special events.
Speaking of the unconventional....Michael Tellinger will be our keynote speaker. Michael does not shy away from controversial subject areas and his research may change your thinking about why we are where we are today and how we got here. He has been described as "shattering myths." An engineer reported that in a sense he regretted coming upon Michael's latest books and research because they were "mind-cracking."
Yes, his name may be familiar as Michael is an accomplished musician, actor, producer, radio show host, and creator of award winning children's educational programs. However it is Michael's books, worldwide conferences and specifically his research that are causing biologists, anthropologists, archeologists, and historians alike to squirm and re-think some of our most accepted philosophies and theories.
Is our moon 'natural?" What is Adam's Calendar and why is its discovery causing such unrest? Whether you agree with Zecharia Sitchin or not, Michael's talk and workshop will lead you to new possibilities about our history and perhaps shed some light onto our Ancient Mysteries and how these could influence our Future.
We're looking forward to seeing and talking with you and we love meeting all the new dowsers who are coming into ASD and helping us shape the future. Remember that even if you travel to convention alone, you are not really alone at an ASD Convention. Join us in June!

Monthly Meeting March 9, 2012
March 9, 2012 ~ 7:30 pm
>> * IT'S MOVIE NIGHT!!! * <<
What do Leprechauns, Shamrocks and Orbs have in common? They are all on the calendar for March! While we may not see any Leprechauns at our March meeting, I can assure you we will all see some orbs!
Orbs ... those mysterious spheres of light that we seldom see but may show up on videos and photographs. What are they? Where do they come from? What do they mean? By end of our meeting on March 9th, we should have answers to some, if not all, of these and other questions we may have.
After a short introduction on Orbs, we will be showing a one-hour video about Orbs that includes interviews with several experts.
"We may be living in the midst of other dimensions our eyes alone cannot perceive. New technological advances are allowing us to confirm what many have believed ~ that there is more to our world than meets the eye! 'Orbs: The Veil is Lifting' shows how modern digital photography allows us to observe what has been with us all along: a hidden world of light spheres known as Orbs."
To allow time for discussion after the video, we will start the video promptly at 8:10-8:15 pm. This will allow us at least 30 minutes after the video for discussion and Q & A's.
Photos of Orbs: Do you have any pictures of Orbs or other "light beings"? Bring them to the meeting! Let's examine them, and perhaps we can gain some more insight after viewing the movie!
Also - We would love your feedback regarding our first Movie Night! If it goes well and you are enjoying this, we have several we would like to share in the future.
We are looking forward to seeing you for another fun informative meeting! Best to wear some green so you won't be pinched!
