Annual National Conference
We just completed our 47th Annual Convention, held at the Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vermont. This was a new venue for us, the first after many years at Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont, and we went back to our old time of year. We moved back to our mid-summer time so that families with summer vacations (as well as teachers and students) could come up to Vermont and enjoy both the climate and learn about dowsing.

Highlights of the 47th Annual Convention included a special guest, James Redfield (The Celestine Prophecy), who talked on the interface between synchronicity and dowsing. Many veteran dowsers presented information on their area of interest and expertise as well as we had a full school of beginning dowsers and another school for advanced dowsers. We have some CDs ready for purchase, from the earlier talks, and more on the way.

Although it was a beautiful site, the terrain was not conducive to the needs of our members as it was very hilly. Thus the ASD membership voted unanimously to move next year's Annual Convention someplace else. So we’re on the road, looking…. if anyone has good ideas [don’t forget to dowse it], for the Vermont area, please contact headquarters with your suggestions.

Decisions Reached by the Trustees
The old Board of Trustees met twice at the beginning of the annual convention and the new Board of Trustees met once at the end of convention. The new board will be attending to national matters in once a month teleconferences. It will be present at the Southwest Conference in October, meeting for Board matters and also making themselves available for discussion with all dowsers who wish to bend an ear!

A number of organizational decisions were reached during the annual convention Board meetings. They included changes in by-laws and procedures and changes in the trust fund. The Board received reports from various committees on their work over the past year, including headquarters staff, convention staff and Water for Humanity, our largest volunteer outreach. The Water for Humanity report will appear in the next quarterly ASD Digest.

Volunteers needed
One of the wonderful parts of a national organization that keeps in touch via internet is the spreading of volunteer efforts. We are putting out a call for volunteers for the following specific positions. You can be located anywhere in the USA (or abroad, for that matter); you just need access to internet facilities and sometimes specific types of technical equipment or special skills yourself. Current volunteer needs include:

Audio assistance
We need several volunteers to listen to this year’s convention tapes, to be sure they are titled correctly and can be heard. Files can be transferred by computer. We need other volunteers to reproduce the finished cds for sale via our web site. We have good reproduction equipment.. we can use some help…

Web site designers, programmers, editors

Will Clark, our volunteer webmaster, is looking for assistants to fill these and other web site slots. You can be located anywhere, just know your craft.

Dowsers Specialty List

We are going to start placing on our web site lists of dowsers with specialties, the quality of whose work we can verify. This to make available to the public a reference file for their use. If you have a specialty and would like to be listed, please send us your contact and professional information along with a letter of professional work you have done to date, any publications or workshops taught, and at least two letters from satisfied clients.

Helping out at headquarters

Are you in the Danville area, and can you volunteer some time to help? Maybe secretarial/assistant work once a week. How about grounds upkeep. We value your abilities and would appreciate your assistance.
